Privacy Policy

This policy covers the VoyaKin mobile apps and this website, voyakin.io (together, “VoyaKin”, “we”, “us”). If you have questions, email privacy@voyakin.io.

1. What we collect

On this website

• Waitlist: your email address, whether you’re a first-time traveler or an experienced one, and, if you built one, your dream destination list.
• Your dream list on this site is stored only in your browser (local storage) unless you send it with the waitlist form.
• Technical data: our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking on this website.

In the app

• Account: email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider, never in plain text), or sign-in via Apple or Google; display name, username, and optional profile details such as a photo, bio, home region, languages and travel interests.
• Content you create: posts, photos, videos, 24-hour stories, captions, comments, questions and answers, and the destinations you tag.
• Your journey (private by default): dream destinations, journey status and checklist progress, saved items, countries you mark as visited, and language-learning progress and saved phrases.
• AI language practice: the messages you send in AI conversation practice, so the practice partner can reply.
• Safety records: reports, blocks and moderation decisions.
• Notifications: a push token if you allow notifications, plus your notification preferences.
• Partner link clicks: recorded anonymously, without your account ID, using a random token for attribution.

What we don’t do: VoyaKin does not track your location to decide where you’ve traveled. “I Made It” and your travel map are only ever set by you. We never ask you to disclose your race, ethnicity, finances or other sensitive details.

2. How we use it

• To run your account and show you destinations, stories, lessons and your private journey.
• To publish content you choose to share, with the visibility you choose.
• To keep the community safe: moderation, spam and abuse prevention, rate limits.
• To email you about the launch (waitlist) and important account or policy updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To understand which partner links are useful, in aggregate and without identifying you.

3. Who processes data for us

We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

• Supabase: database, authentication and photo storage.
• Cloudflare: video upload, processing and streaming.
• OpenAI: generating replies in AI language practice. Messages are sent from our servers, not your device.
• Vercel: hosting for this website.
• Apple and Google: optional sign-in, and push notifications through their platforms.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. When you follow a partner link, the partner’s own privacy policy applies on their site.

4. What others can see

Your public profile and the content you publish can be seen by other people, as described in the app. Your dream destinations, journeys, budgets, saved items and language progress are private. Please don’t share precise personal itineraries or where you’re staying in public posts.

5. How long we keep it

• 24-hour stories leave public view after 24 hours, and their media is deleted from our storage and video provider by a background process.
• Your account is kept until you delete it. When you do, we remove your profile, journeys, dream destinations, travel map, posts, comments, and uploaded photos and videos. Media removal usually completes within a day.
• Waitlist emails are kept until launch communications end or you ask us to remove them.
• We may keep limited records where the law requires it, or to handle safety reports and abuse.

We can’t control copies other people make (like screenshots or downloads), and deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a short period before it’s overwritten.

6. Your choices and rights

• Access and correct your profile in the app at any time.
• Delete your account in the app, or follow the steps on our account deletion page.
• Turn notifications off in the app or in your device settings.
• Ask for a copy of your data, or exercise any other privacy right you have under local law (such as in California, the EU or the UK), by emailing privacy@voyakin.io. We won’t discriminate against you for using your rights.

7. Security

We protect data with access controls at the database level, encrypted connections, and keeping privileged keys on our servers, never in the app. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Children

VoyaKin is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to create an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

9. International users

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

10. Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email.
